Meet the Founders

In 2018, Tony Garcia-McMillian was involved in an accident that changed his life forever — a moment that reshaped everything he knew and set him on a completely new path.

Rather than letting that moment define him, Tony channeled his experience into adaptive golf, finding in the game a way to reclaim normalcy, build confidence, and connect with others facing similar challenges.

Together with Alex Fourie, Tony co-founded North Carolina Adaptive Golf to provide free monthly clinics for people of all ages and abilities, driven by the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed.

Alex Fourie was born in Zvenyhorodka, Ukraine. He was born with one arm and a cleft lip and palate, which may have been due to lingering radiation effects from the Chernobyl disaster. After spending his first seven years in orphanages, he was adopted in 1999, weighing only 35 pounds.

His parents put a golf club in his hand the first week he arrived in the U.S. He developed a passion for teaching golf, particularly to those with physical disabilities or limitations. He later founded Single Hand Golf, with a mission to inspire kids with adaptive needs to love, learn and grow in golf.

Alex is the #1 one-arm golfer in the United States with a handicap of 0.6, a Level 1 PGA Golf Instructor, and a Titleist Performance Institute certified coach. He is currently the Head Golf Professional at The Club at Irish Creek in North Carolina — the first disabled golf pro in America. in North Carolina — the first disabled golf pro in America.
